Master chef Richard Moore (below left) sizzles the meat to perfection as he prepares a feast for the Unity Day Celebration Friday, July 7, at Bryson Park in Sylva. Meanwhile, Dalisia Brown (below right) decides to work off her dinner with a game of croquet. The day-long celebration honoring African-American Unity was organized by four brothers, Earl, David, Danny and Charles Allen. In addition to the feast, activities for all ages included lawn games, basketball and dancing the night away with a live DJ. Participants came from not only Jackson County, but other North Carolina towns, as well as Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and New York.
