Jackson County Public Schools held a holiday art contest, with the winning design adorning the system’s official greeting card, Interim Superintendent Tony Tipton told the Board of Education at the Dec. 15 meeting.

Art teachers in all county elementary schools organized the project, centered around “What the holidays mean to me,” Tipton said.

About 200 cards were sent out with the winning design on the front and the runners-up on the back, he said.

Tipton picked the design (above) of Emma Helsing, a 7th-grader at Fairview Elementary School, for the front of the card.
