An accident last Thursday left a Jackson County man with what an onsite first responder described as a possible broken femur and other traumas. A 911 call came in at about 8:40 a.m. notifying emergency services of a single-vehicle wreck in the Addie area. Larry Lynn Nations, 62, of Cullowhee, was attempting to back down to Skyland Drive when he drove off the roadway. His Toyota truck rolled down a steep kudzu-covered bank, overturning several times, according to a report by N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Brody Crawford, who estimated Nations was traveling 5 mph when he went off the road. Jackson County EMS transported Nations to Mission Hospital in Asheville. Nations was driving a 1986 Toyota truck, which the crash rendered undriveable. He was wearing a seat belt at the time. Harris EMS, Jackson County Rescue Squad, the Sheriff’s Office and the Highway Patrol responded.
