Notes from our business community
- and everywhere else

THE ADULT VIDEO STORE ...

Sign removal is no more. Uncle Bill's Flea Market owner Ben Seay (bottom, right), with the help of some friends, took down a sign that had caused some members of the Barkers Creek community concern. "The number one reason the store's gone is because the community didn't like the idea of it being here," Seay said Tuesday.

Area residents John and Yvonne Wintermier presented Jackson County commissioners with a petition in June containing more than 100 signatures of those they said were offended by flea market sign, which, they said, had a negative influence and offended "the Christian people and children of the community."

The store had been operated at Uncle Bill's for about five years.

Going in its place will be Mickey's and Cindy's Horseshoe Art and Decor, owned by Mickey McClure and Cindy Richard. The new business will feature Western art, hats, metal art, Indian pottery and more on the cowboy theme. They hope to be open for business this weekend.
