THE TOWN OF SYLVA...
has announced a schedule of holiday week trash pickups for both County Collections and Sylva personnel. A normal schedule will be run on Monday, Dec. 23, and Tuesday, Dec. 24. No routes will be run on Christmas Day, and Country Collections will pick up both the Wednesday and Thursday routes on Thursday, Dec. 26.
JACKSON COUNTY'S...
staffed recycling centers will be closed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
THE REV. L.H. Mathis....
left Monday, Dec. 16, for a mission trip to the Philippines. He will conduct revival meetings and preach in Manila and Noga City through Christmas, New Year's and most of January.
Mathis, who lives in the Canada section of Jackson County, asked for "prayers of the people back home during this mission trip."
UNITED CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES ...
will close at noon Tuesday, Dec. 24, and remain closed through Dec. 27. The agency will reopen Monday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m.

the international program developed by Dr. Emma Miller in 1993, has relocated to Sylva. Miller is the author and co-producer of the Gentle Touch infant massage video. With a specialty in prenatal and infant mental health, Miller is an N.C. Infant/Toddler/Family specialist and a minister with expertise in early loss. She offers both hospital and home visits and will teach a parent-infant class at Sylva Pediatrics beginning Jan. 11. See her ad elsewhere in this issue.
