VALERIE YOW...
of Chapel Hill, who is researching and writing a biography of author Betty Smith ("A Tree Grows in BrooklynČ) is seeking help from anyone in this area who might have copies of letters from Smith to Josephina Niggli, who taught at Western Carolina University. Niggli's estate was sold at auction, and Yow is wondering if anyone found letters from Smith and saved them. Anyone with information may contact Yow at (919) 929-2384, 12 Davie Circle, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514, or by email at reeyownc@mindspring.com.
