THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS...

Bazaar and Craft Show, which has historically been at Western Carolina University, will be held at Cullowhee Valley School this year Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday. The bazaar will feature pottery, glass, arts and crafts, Christmas decorations and many other items.


CELEBRATIONS BRIDAL....

and Formal Wear, located on West Main Street across from the Sylva Fire Department, will hold its grand opening this Saturday, Nov. 16. Owner Carmela Brooks will hold a special sale that day only and will offer selected gowns at 10 to 50 percent off. For more information, call the store at 586-4961.


HARRAH'S CHEROKEE CASINO...

is celebrating its fifth anniversary this month with a variety of activities and special programs. "Redneck" comedian Jeff Foxworthy will perform tonight (Thursday) at 7 and 9 p.m. Call 1-800-HARRAHS for ticket information. In honor of the anniversary, casino customers with a casino Total Rewards card can register for a free pull on 777 machines or $2,500 in cash each Saturday in November.

LOCAL RED CROSS...

volunteer Barbara Smith is headed to Jasper, Ala., to assist in the wake of the devastating tornados that swept through the state Sunday night. Smith will be attached to the Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle, which can provide 400 meals three times a day.


A CEMETERY FUND...

is being established for Dicks Creek Cemetery, which dates back to the late 1800s and is need of repairs. Those who have family buried in the cemetery and would like to contribute may call Ricky Conner at 586-2206 or send contributions in care of Dicks Creek Baptist Church, 24 Wild Rose Drive, Whittier, N.C. 28789.


HEAR A CULLOWHEE ARTIST....

enjoy delicious food and support a local non-profit all in one evening this Friday, Nov. 15, when SoHo Grill and Racquet Club presents Caring Neighbors Night from 5-9 p.m. Twenty percent of the night's proceeds will be donated to REACH of Jackson County's annual Caring Neighbors fund-raising drive. Michael Revere will entertain with songs and poems from his forthcoming CD from 6-6:30 p.m. Reservations are required for parties of seven or more and can be made by calling 293-9288. The restaurant is located in Cullowhee across from the post office.


MORE GOOD...

entertainment and food will be available Saturday, Nov. 16, as Cherokee Seven Clans Art Guild presents its Thanksgiving Art Show and Sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cherokee fairgrounds. Artists selling their work will be on hand to discuss their art while native artists will perform every 30 minutes. Traditional corn soup will be served and the Whitepath Center will sell frybread.


EDWARD JONES...

DANIEL RIDDELL...

is the winner of the video camera recently auctioned by American Legion Post 104. Legion members expressed thanks to Harold's Supermarket, Ingles and Wal-Mart for allowing ticket sales in front of the stores.


JACKSON COUNTY...

is termed an "uncluttered mountain paradise" in the November issue of North Carolina magazine. The article mentions the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad and rafting the Tuckaseigee as favorite visitor activities and includes information about the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce to help Tar Heels in other areas of the state with their plans to vacation here.
