SYLVA'S CHRISTMAS PARADE ...
will be Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. The Hospice Tree will be lit at 6 p.m. at the courthouse steps. The tree lighting will be followed by caroling on the steps of First Baptist Church until the parade arrives. The theme of this year's parade is "A Storybook Christmas." Santa Claus will be at Massie Furniture Store four Fridays in December (Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22) beginning at 4 p.m.

A FALL YARD SALE ...
sponsored by the Student Support program at Southwestern Community College will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the college's Allied Health Building parking lot. If it rains, the event will be moved to Saturday, Nov. 4. Vendor spaces, including tables while they last, are $15. Both groups and individuals are invited to sell. Special activities will include the Twister game and a cakewalk. Each vendor will be able to keep all sale money. The proceeds from purchasing a vendor spot will go toward student scholarships.
