REACH...of Jackson County will host the Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours tonight (Thursday). The event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the new REACH Village in Lovesfield.
CHRIS "KING KARAOKE"...Monteith will present the Ultimate Karaoke Contest at O'Malley's Saturday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. Three winners from this contest will advance to the finals on Nov. 9 at the Fine Arts Center of Bryson City, with a chance to win a grand prize of $1,000 in cash and prizes. JUDY'S BRIDAL...and Formal Wear welcomes Carol Coleson to the staff. Carol recently moved to the area with her husband, Norm, and teenagers Erik, 16, and Laura, 13. Norm works for Nova Kitchen and Bath in Cashiers.
PERFORMANCE...Automotive has opened behind ToneMaster at 57 East Sylva Circle. Owners are Gregg Buchanan and Bill Park. Buchanan is A.S.E. certified in stering, suspension and brakes and has 15 years experience at Sears Auto Center, where he was manager for five years. He's the son of Larry Buchanan and Joyce Deitz, both Jackson County natives. His partner, Park, is from Kansas and has 14 years experience as a mechanic for Jeep and General Motors vehicles. LIQUID BREAD CO....on Mill Street is now open with supplies for making homemade beer and wine. Owner John Duncan also offers classes in beer- and wine-making. For information, call 586-6440.
THE LOCAL ...Red Cross branch will conduct CPR/First Aid training Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the office at 474 W. Main Street in Sylva. Fee for the class and book is $38. Those interested must register by calling 586-2019.
SOUTHWESTERN...Seamless Gutter of Sylva hosted a recent meeting of the Jackson County Homebuilders Association. HBA members toured Southwestern's office and warehouse. Owners Mike and Mona Hooper started Southwestern more than 20 years ago. The homebuilders' association meets the first Monday of each month.
