ATTENTION PARENTS:

If your child will be a bus rider at any time this year, it is important that they be on their bus next week when state officials conduct the annual school bus ridership count. State funds are allocated based on the numbers from this count. Another factor to consider is that school buses are considered to be among the safest forms of surface transportation because of their size and the training of their drivers.


BRUCE ANN GREEN...

graduated last week in Raleigh as a certified public manager. A chief probation officer with the N.C. Department of Corrections, Green is responsible for direct line supervision and the daily operation of personnel, as well as probation/parole offenders within Jackson, Macon and Swain counties. Green is one of a group of selected managers from North Carolina state government who has worked to improve her skills and become a better leader through the public manager program. Green serves on the town of Sylva's ABC Board and a number of other area boards. Wife of Lloyd Green, she is the daughter of Bruce Clement of Whittier and the late Eula Bumgarner Clement.

This year's theme for the N.C. Rehabilitation Association Conference is "Embracing Change: A Capital Idea," Gregory said. The event is being held Oct. 2-4 at the Sheraton Capital Center Hotel in Raleigh.

recently received a plaque making him a lifetime honorary member of the Northern Jackson County Board of Realtors and thanking him for 20 years of service to the board. Bonnie Pope, president of the realtors' board, presented the award to Holland.
