annual football contest begins in this week's paper. The popular feature is on page 12C this week. Remember, entries must be received at The Herald office by 5 p.m. Friday. Prize money has gone up this year, and it's easy to enter. Just find the games inside each ad and pick the teams you think will win.


DOMINIQUE TOEDT ...

of Whittier is the latest winner in our "Have Dinner on Us" contest, a part of our popular Great Smokies Dining Guide. She won a $25 gift certificate to The Well House in Dillsboro.


INTERNATIONAL FLORAL ARTIST ...

Kevin Ylvisaker will create a new and exciting line of permanent botanical floral designs at Ray's Florist. The designs will include fall and winter arrangements as well as custom interior design work. Many will feature flowers and fruits combined in today's colors and patterns. Ylvisaker is a past president of the American Institute of Floral Designers and a member of the Professional Floral Commentators International. He was a judge for the 1997 Tournament of Roses Parade and was a floral designer for both the inaugurations for Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush. "It is very thrilling for us to bring such new talent to our flower shop, and we are extremely excited to share his designs with the people of Sylva," said Ray Nations, owner of Ray's Florist.


TOM THUTT...

a 1969 Sylva-Webster graduate, recently won the Distinguised Service Award, given annually by the School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Thutt is a 1973 UNC-CH graduate. He is the son of Mildred Thutt of Sylva and the late Bob Thutt.
