CHEROKEE AUTHOR...

Adam Blythe will be at City Lights Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. Blythe, who writes under the pen name Big Adam, will be at the store to sign copies of his three novels: "The Writer," "Two Cents: The Dance at LaGuardia" and "My Friend Tater." Blythe, a member of Cherokee Church of Christ, is a 1998 graduate of Swain County High School. He attends Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala., where he is editor of the campus newspaper. He has been writing since the age of five and says that many of his stories "deal with the serious yet darker side of life and the complexity of human nature."


SOUL INFUSION...

is offering several musical events during the coming week. On Thursday, Aug 8, Saw Mill Creek Porch Band of Bryson City will play their brand of foot-stomping bluegrass from 8 to 11 p.m. ($1 cover charge); on Friday, Aug. 9, A/D of Asheville will play funk rock from 9 p.m. until 12 a.m. ($3 cover charge); and on Thursday, Aug. 15, Asheville's folk/rock singer/songwriter Ginny Wilder will play (free).

DRS. COY BROWN and BRANDY HICKS...

Bryson have moved their downtown eye practice across the parking lot to the old Krismart/Little People location that was more recently occupied by Community First Mortgage.
