NORTH CAROLINA'S ...

Museum of History in Raleigh needs your help to tell an important part of our state's history. The museum is developing an exhibit about North Carolinians and the Civil Rights movement. This major exhibition, scheduled to open in 2004, will highlight individuals, stories and events that lay at the heart of the cause. The exhibit will focus on the social and political changes initiated by African Americans and American Indians in North Carolina between 1945 and 1975.

The Museum of History seeks to acquire - through loan, purchase or donation - items related to civil rights experiences in North Carolina. If you have photographs, signs, documents, clothing and other items that reflect stories and events of the Civil Rights movement, please call curator Shawn Saunders at (919) 715-0200, ext. 204. The museum also plans to conduct interviews of participants in the Civil Rights movement. If you are willing to share your story, please contact the curator.
