INCLUDED IN THIS WEEK'S NEWSPAPER...is a new monthly feature aimed at raising awareness of the crucial role preschool education plays in a child's development. The page is a joint effort of The Sylva Herald and Smart Start. Each month's feature will include information about preschoolers and how they learn, as well as art and science activities parents and children can do together. In addition, a children's book will be profiled and the page will include guidelines to help parents enhance their child's reading experience. Information will be fresh each month, and we hope this will be a valuable contribution to local parents of preschoolers, given the body of research that proves children need to come to school prepared to learn in order to do well in school and life. If you enjoy the page, please say "thank-you" to the advertisers who sponsor it.
