LOCAL ALLSTATE AGENT RON HEFLIN ...

recently earned the Personal Financial Representative title and is now able to provide his customers variable annuity, variable life and mutual fund products, in addition to auto, homeowner and traditional life insurance products. He received the title after completing extensive Allstate training and passing several exams.


WEBSTER ENTERPRISES ...

will shut down operations during the week of July 2-6. In addition, for most of July and August, Webster will operate only the Webster plant. Those with business with the company may call 586-8981. Also, mark your calendars now for Webster Enterprises' 25th anniversary celebration, planned for Saturday, Sept. 22, at Mark Watson Park.


BEGINNING JULY 1...

, all contractors who do business within the town of Sylva will be required to purchase a contractor privilege license. The fee is $10, and the license is valid for one year. Applications are available at Sylva's City Hall, located at 83 Allen Street. For additional information, call 586-2719.

summer activities for your child? The Family Resource Center has programs for children of all ages. They are also able to refer you to other organizations in the area that offer summer activities. Call the FRC at 586-2845 and ask for Lindley Myers for details.


LET YOUR LICENSE ...

tag spread a "Do Not Litter" lesson by purchasing a specialty plate. The N.C. Department of Transportation's Office of Beautification Programs is organizing an effort to collect the 300 completed applications needed before the Department of Motor Vehicles can produce the plates. The design is the well-recognized "do not" red slash symbol in a circle with the word "litter." Plates require a $20 annual fee in addition to the regular license charge. A total of $10 from each plate sold will be allocated to the department's litter prevention fund. A plate design, along with an application form is available at www.dot.state.nc.us/beautification (posted under current events) or by calling 1-800-331-5864. To purchase a plate, send a completed application with a $20 check payable to NCDOT Litter Prevention Fund, 1540 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C. 27699-1540. Plates can be personalized with up to four spaces. The plate will have a registration sticker expiring on the same month as any existing plate.
