DILLSBORO...
will present its 18th annual Dillsboro Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 8, and is seeking local crafters and artisans to apply for booth space for this event. The Heritage Festival is a juried show and all wares will be produced by the artisans. There are two fee schedules for booth space with special consideration being offered to those artisans willing to "work" throughout the day demonstrating the crafts they are selling. A limited number of food booths are also being sought. Contact Dillsboro Merchants Association at 586-3198 for an application. All applications must be received by Monday, May 20.

until the Kudzu turns green to catch "Green Grows the Kudzu," a one-woman show now playing at the Kudzu Theater at the old courthouse in Sylva. Shows are Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 5, at 2:30 p.m.

CITY LIGHTS...
will host a special storytime for adults at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4. Teachers, parents, aunts, uncles and others with an interest in children's books are invited to attend. Jennifer Ross will present new and recent titles for children and young adults, including ideas on how to incorporate these new books into the classroom. Reading notes for teachers and posters will be available.

in Sylva will offer parents and grandparents tips on paying for a college education. Guests will also learn the tax advantages of college-savings plans as well as how to maintain control of their college-savings plan. JACKSON COUNTY...
Public Library will be closed Saturday, May 4, to allow the staff to participate in the 5K Human Race to raise money to keep things running.
YOUTH SPORTS...
registration for the 2002 Jackson County Youth Sports fall season will be Saturday, April 27, and Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. until noon in the parking lot of the Jackson County Justice Center. Participants must be Jackson County residents or attend Jackson County Schools (grades 1-8 only) and must be at least age 6 but not older than age 13 as of Aug. 1. JENNIFER LEE...
of Lewisville has been awarded the Lewisville Civic Club's Student Leadership Scholarship Award for 2002 and the Junior League of Winston Salem "Volunteer of the Year Award." She is the granddaughter of James R. DeVane of Cullowhee and will graduate May 25 from West Forsyth High School in Clemmons. Lee plans to attend Salem College.
