INZONE TANNING ...is under new ownership and now has extended business hours. New staff members include Melanie Burrell, Cathy White Sutton, Jimmy Cunningham Jr. and Alyson Collins. InZone is located in the East Sylva Shopping Center and takes both appointments and walk-ins.

JACKSON COUNTY SCHOOLS ...administrative offices are closed this week during the school system's spring break. However, the finance and personnel offices will be open Friday, April 6.
SYLVA FAMILY PRACTICE, ...located on Fisher Creek Road, will be closed on Good Friday, April 13, and will reopen Monday, April 16.

ALMOND TWIRLERS ...will host a "Poor Taxpayer Dance" Thursday, April 12, at 8 p.m. at the old Whittier School. Costume may be either "Rags or Riches" or western attire. JOLENE FOX ...a teacher at Smoky Mountain High School, won the 1985 Toyota Corolla that was raffled of by the SMHS newspaper department. The fund-raiser was initiated by Kelly Queen, and the car was donated by Cecil and Steve Queen of Ken Wilson Ford. All proceeds went to the newspaper class at the high school
SMOKY MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL ...Principal Kenny Nicholson reported last week that proceeds from the Last Shot Alumni Basketball Game totalled $2,308.66. The proceeds were divided, he said, with half ($1,154.33) going to the Community Foundation's Academic Excellence Program, and the remainder going to the high school gymnasium renovation project."I am pleased we were able to raise that much money, and that we were able to help the Community Foundation and the school," Nicholson said.
