Allen has located photos of many, but she still needs E.R. Hampton (1890-95); Dr. J.H. Wolff (1895-99); J.R. Love (several times beginning in 1903); J.M. Carpenter (1904); J.M. Crawford (1908); Charles H. Neal (1911-1912); W.B. Davis (1918-1919); and Dan Tompkins (1920-21 and 1925-30). Cherokee Casino has paid out its first $40,000 jackpot to Knoxville, Tenn., resident James Stiles. The jackpot came less than a month after the casino announced larger jackpots. "We expect to increase visitors and revenue with the new jackpots," said casino General Manager Pat Dennehy. "Higher pay out limits enhance the gaming experience and make our casino an even more attractive destination for travellers." An enterprise of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians, the casino is managed by Harrah's Entertainment under an agreement with the tribe.

Insurance and Wayah Insurance will merge their Sylva offices effective Monday, March 19, to offer their customers a wider selection of insurance products. The Wayah office will move into the Stanberry building at 715 E. Main Street. David Stiens, Pam Morgan and Linda Proctor will join the staff at Stanberry.

a Sylva native, has been elected a first level officer of Wachovia Bank in Sylva. She is a branch sales and service manager. Crawford, who joined Wachovia in 1969, has previously held positions as teller, head teller, service representative, sales representative and senior sales representation. She assumed her current position in 1999. She and her husband, Ray, live in Whittier.

Harry Potter fans: City Lights Bookstore will host a Harry Potter games party Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m. to celebrate the publication of "Quidditch Through the Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" by J.K.
