THE REV. DANIEL...

Johnson is in the final stages of writing a book on the life of the Rev. William Floyd Cook (1865-1921), who was married to S. Alice Parker. They raised their family in Caney Fork, and descendents are numerous. To date, they have idenitified 446 of those descendents, but there are many more. Common surnames include Cook, Corne, Hooper, McMahan, Moore, Parker, Queen and Sitton. The researcher asks Herald readers for help in finding printable copies of any pictures that are available of Floyd and/or Alice as well as stories and anecdotes about Floyd, his family and/or ministry. His Bible has not been located either, and notes from it would be a tremendous resource to include. Any materials can be dropped off at the Jackson County Genealogical Society office in Sylva. Their address is 42 Asheville Highway, Suite 2. Please leave them in an envelope, marked "William Floyd Cook," and explain they are for the Rev. Johnson.
