ATTENTION SMHS...

Class of 1993. It's time for your class reunion, and Pam Sumner is having trouble locating classmates due to county's emergency 911 address changes. She would like all members of the class to send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to her at P.O. Box 536, Sylva, N.C. 28779. Pam would also appreciate it if you would enclose addresses you might know for classmates who have moved away from the area.

THE SECOND ANNUAL...

CulloWHEE! ArtsFest, Western Carolina University's summer celebration of live music and fine arts, is now accepting applications for an art exhibition and sale to take place as part of the two-day festival.

The outdoor festival is scheduled for Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, on the WCU campus. The festival is expected to draw more than 5,000 people and is being promoted throughout the Southeast. Last year's event attracted more than 2,000 patrons with musical acts including The Manhattan Transfer, David Sanborn, Joe Sample and Bio Ritmo. Performers for this year's festival will be named at a later date.

The arts and crafts exhibition and sale will be part of the "arts village," an area adjacent to the main stage where participants can relax, purchase arts and crafts, and listen to a variety of regional and local musicians performing between the headliners and other acts. The gates will open at 5 p.m. June 20 and noon on June 21.

A limited number of spaces are available for the arts and crafts area. This is a juried exhibit and sale representing all fine art and craft media, including ceramics, glass, wood, fiber, metal, jewelry, baskets, handmade paper, iron, book arts, sculpture, photography and painting. Imported crafts, work from kits or molds, printed patchwork or other non-original work will not be accepted. Deadline for entries is Feb. 15.

Fee for each 12-by-12 space is $100. Each artist will be provided with a duplex electrical outlet, a table, two festival passes and two festival T-shirts. Additional tickets will be available at a reduced cost.

Interested exhibitors may request an application by contacting the CulloWHEE! ArtsFest Arts and Crafts Fair, Hinds University Center, P.O. Box 1989, Cullowhee N.C., 28723; telephone 227-7206. Exhibitors will be notified the first week of March. Applications are available online at www.cullowheeartsfest.com.
