A MIX-UP AT THE POST OFFICE...
caused delays in delivery of some subscribers' Sylva Heralds last week. Sylva Postmaster Steve Allen explained that papers bound for Webster, Dillsboro, Whittier and Tuckasegee accidentally went from Asheville to Charlotte last week, which meant that subscribers in those areas didn't get their papers on time. Steps have been taken to prevent such mistakes in the future. The Herald apologizes for the delay.

FINALLY...
we offer this story, which appeared in the January edition of the N.C. Farm Bureau News:
"I'm the world's greatest batter," the little boy said confidently, tossing the baseball into the air, swinging his bat - and missing the ball. Undeterred, the boy tossed the ball into the air again, proclaiming, "I'm the greatest batter ever!" Again he swung and missed the ball. After watching his son make several more tries, the kind-hearted father approached and said, "Son, you really are a good batter, but you know what? You're an even better pitcher!"
