BOJANGLES' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits, located in Wal-Mart Plaza, will hold its grand opening celebration Saturday, Jan. 10, from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. Stop by for special prices and all-day fun.



PENUMBRA GALLERY
and Studio on Main Street in Sylva is accepting entries for its inaugural Photography Competition and Exhibition 2004. Deadline for entries is Saturday, Jan. 31, to Penumbra, which is located at 534 West Main St. The exhibition will be March 27 through April 25 and will consist of artwork accepted through a juried process. Gallery owner Matthew Turlington said Penumbra expects to exhibit 25 to 40 individual photographs. Contest entry forms, rules and guidelines can be found online at www.penumbragallery.com or picked up at Penumbra or Livingston's Photo. Jackson County Visual Arts Association members will receive a discount on entry fees and may contact Ray Menze or Gallery One for more information. A cash prize of $150 will be awarded to the first-place winner, and a contest Web site will be constructed and remain online until next year's exhibition.



GERALDINE QUEEN
would like to thank everyone who helped with her recent fund raisers at Canada Community Center and the Community Service Center. The events raised more than $7,000 to help pay her medical expenses not covered by insurance.



UNITED CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES expressed appreciation to all who contributed food during the holidays. Some 215 families received food boxes. Specific contributors included Smoky Mountain High School's Junior Civitan Club and National Honor Society.
