MATTHEW JAMISON ...

MATTHEW JAMISON , grandson of Joan Jamison of Sylva and the late Vernon Jamison and son of Mike and Libby Jamison of Charlotte, graduated summa cum laude (with highest honor) from North Carolina State University Dec. 20. His degree is in mechanical engineering with a minor in German. He is also the grandson of George and Sandra Clark of Asheville.

THREE EMPLOYEES ...

Carolyn McQueen were recently named monthly "Shining Stars" at Harrah's Cherokee Casino for providing great service and promoting teamwork. Those honored include Carolyn McQueen of Sylva, kitchen supervisor. Also recognized were Dorothy Bradley of Whittier, restaurant cashier, and Charles Rabb of Clyde, kitchen supervisor. Harrah's employees nominate co-workers for the "Shining Stars" awards. Three winners each month receive $100, a gift basket and special parking privileges.


CHAD HALL ...

of Appalachian Vinyl Siding is offering free plastic window covering for the elderly and disabled citizens of the county. For information, call 631-3588. The offer is good through the month of January.


THE CLASS OF 1991 ...

at Smoky Mountain High School is planning its 10-year reunion for this summer. Reunion committee members are looking for names and addresses of class members in order to keep everyone informed as details for the even become available. THE WIKE FAMILY ...

of Cullowhee's Wayehutta community will appear on the Sally Jessy Raphael show Monday, Jan. 8. The family taped the segment in New York City in December that features 10-year-old Laci, and 8-year-old Hannah, both dwarfs, and their mom, Kristie. Dad Kevin and 6-year-old Madilyn sat backstage while Laci, Hannah and Kristie were featured as part of a show on tolerance and accepting other people's differences. "Already the producer is talking about having the girls back in February," said Kristie.


ALMOND TWIRLERS ...

Western Square Dance Club will host a regular dance Thursday, Jan. 11, at 8 p.m. at the old Whittier School. Caller will be Marty Northrup, and Carol Pound will lead the dancing. Beginners classes will be offered every Monday at 8 p.m. starting Feb. 5. For information, call Harmer Weichel at 497-2490.
