Notes from our business community

AS YOU READ TONIGHT'S (Thursday's)...

paper, Mary Jane Dillard of Sylva is at Forsyth County Vocation High School to watch her "miracle grandson" David Daniel Dillard graduate. "He was the little boy doctors said probably wouldn't live past age 3, and look at him now. We're so proud," said Dillard, noting that Cullowhee Valley teacher Dona West gave David special training and encouragement. He is the son of Roger Dillard Jr. and Connie Daniel Dillard, formerly of Sylva, and the grandson of the late Roger Dillard Sr. and Dr. and Mrs. David Daniel.

We goofed.

A "thank you" ad that ran in last week's newspaper from N.C. Representative Phil Haire to all those who supported him during the May 8 primary should have been addressed to the citizens of Jackson County. The newspaper staff apologizes for the error.
