CENTURY SOUTH BANK OF THE CAROLINAS...

formerly Haywood Savings Bank, announces the arrival of their new president and CEO, John Lewis. Lewis, originally from Greer, S.C., was elected after serving as president and CEO of the Bank of Dahlonega, a Century South affiliate, for the last five years. A graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor of science degree, he earned his advanced banking diploma at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1988 and received his master's of banking at LSU Graduate School in 1997. He is joined by his wife, Lisa, and their two sons, Logan and Chandler.

"IRIS," A POEM BY GEORGEANNA CARTER...

was published last month by Capper's newspaper. Also recently published by Grit magazine was Carter's reminiscence of a sled run her father created for her sixth birthday. It was illustrated by local artist Doreyl Ammons Cain. Carter started the creative writing group at the Sylva Golden Age Center.


FRANKIE VALLI AND THE LEGENDARY FOUR SEASONS...

will perform at Harrah's Cherokee Casino for one show only at 8 p.m. this Friday, May 12. The group's distinctive musical style is recognizable from blockbuster hits such as "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Walk Like a Man." Tickets are $25.


THE BARKERS CREEK...

Community Development club is accepting entries in a mailbox beautification contest. Any homeowner living within the boundaries of the Barkers Creek Township is eligible to enter. CDC officers will judge entries on Saturday, May 27, and the winner will receive a $25 check. To enter, mail your request to Wanda Hall at 39 Sweeetwater Drive, Whittier, N.C. 28789.


NANCY WILLIAMS...

owner of @ Your Service, has been named to the 2000/2001 edition of the Lexington Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals. @ Your Service provides local businesses with temporary secretarial services. The company also offers training and technical support for many computer applications and software programs. Williams and her husband, Walter, live in Sylva. They have two daughters and two grandchildren.
