SHE'S BACK!

Million-dollar baby Kasey Lynn Maney, daughter of Gary and Katrina Maney of Sylva, is home from Duke Children's Hospital in Durham. Now a year old, Kasey had been at the hospital since she was five months old. Her rare condition is call SCIDS - severe combined immune deficiency syndrome. (See related story in March 16 Sylva Herald.) "So many people have sent cards, letters, donations, and prayers that I don't know how to thank everybody, especially since many of them have been anonymous. Our whole family is very appreciative of everybody's help," said Katrina, Kasey's mom.

THE JACKSON COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD ...

will have a benefit yard sale this Saturday at the squad building beginning at 8 a.m. If you have items to donate for the sale, you can drop them off at the squad building before the sale. Starting at 10:30 a.m. they'll serve a hot dog lunch.

THE JARRETT HOUSE ...

is re-opening for the season on Friday, April 21, at 5 p.m. This is the Hartbarger family's 26th season offering the great family-style meals you've come to love.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN HIGH'S ...

academic banquet will be held on Monday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Western Carolina University's Ramsey Center. Students in grades 9-12 who have a 3.63 grade point average or better will be recognized. Letters have been mailed to parents or guardians of the honored students inviting them to attend.
