of Shear Images recently volunteered his time to design hairstyles for models at a Franklin fashion show. The event featured bridal and formal attire from The Twins Shop and was held at Franklin's Hampton Inn. A large crowd attended, and the event was a great success, a spokesman said.

have opened Country Kitchen Restaurant at Jimmy's Minimarket in Tuckasegee. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They are open for dinner Friday and Saturday only from 5 to 8 p.m. and feature catfish, flounder and shrimp.
REGIONAL FAVORITE...
David Lamotte will kick off Crossroads' new singer/songwriter series Wednesday, March 22, at 8 p.m. Area singer/songwriters will be showcased each Wednesday at the Sylva club. The first show, headlined by Lamotte will be free to all patrons 21 and over. Those under 21 are allowed but a small cover charge will apply. PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS...
will be held March 20-23 in Sylva and Cashiers for children age 30 months to 4 years. These screenings are free. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call 227-7488. Children who will be 5 years old between now and Oct. 16 are kindergarten eligible and will not be included in this screening.
CENSUS UPDATE...
Questionnaire Assistance Centers will be available for those who need help in filling out the census forms they have received. Centers for this area will be:
Cashiers - Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library.
Franklin - Monday from noon to 2 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the employment security office.
Waynesville - Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at the library and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waynesville VFW.
