of Sylva will appear on Wednesday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. on UNC-TV's Festival 2000. This is Haire's second appearance on the annual fund-raiser to speak on behalf of public television. "I have long supported UNC-TV and their goal to provide quality public television to all North Carolina citizens," said Haire, "and I am honored to be invited to appear again this year." The awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions in four categories: science, fine arts, literature and public service. LITTER HOTLINE...
Gov. Jim Hunt has established a statewide, toll-free tip line for state residents to report littered highways and waterways, illegal dumps, abandoned vehicles and dilapidated structures. The hotline was established to give people one number to call and report all manner of eyesores. Concerned citizens may call 1-877-883-2011. The line will be accessible 24 hours a day.
