Ritchie named player of year; all-conference teams selected

Smoky Mountain senior Kaitlin Ritchie has been named volleyball player of the year in the Western Athletic Conference.

She was one of 10 SM athletes selected all-conference from fall sports teams.

Ritchie helped the Lady Mustangs to an undefeated WAC record and the second round of the state 3-A playoffs. She led the team in kills and was second in blocks.

Joining her on the All-WAC squad are senior teammates Lindsey Lewis, Tara Green and Melissa Collins. Lewis was the team leader in blocks and was second in kills. Green was tops in digs while Collins led in assists.

Receiving honorable mention were seniors Abbey Higgins and Amanda Magruder.
