Burchette's passing propels ASU to victory over Western Carolina

Fred Boateng gains part of his 107 yards for Western Carolina in Saturday's 35-28 loss to Appalachian State.

Joe Burchette completed 25 of 37 passes for 379 yards and four touchdowns Saturday leading Appalachian State to a 35-28 Southern Conference victory over Western Carolina.

The outcome wasn't secure until ASU recovered a fumble with less than two and a half minutes to play.

Troy Albea caught eight passes for 88 yards. Rashad Slade's five receptions totaled 78 yards while Daniel Wilcox had 102 yards on just four receptions. All of them had one TD catch.

WCU's David Rivers completed 19 of 36 passes for 198 yards. Michael Banks and Lamont Seward both had 74 yards on six and three catches, respectively.
