Smoky Mountain's Allen Sutton (15) and Darius Bryson (10) wrap up Franklin's Craig Younce during Friday's 20-12 loss.

Gary Morris gained 107 yards in 18 carries and completed a 61-yard touchdown pass Friday leading Franklin to a 20-12 Western Athletic Conference victory over Smoky Mountain at the Panther Pit.

The Panthers (2-3, 2-1) greatly improved their chances of making the state 3-A playoffs. The Mustangs (4-4, 1-2) are still alive for the playoffs but can ill afford another loss.

Benji Williams added 45 yards in 10 carries for Franklin. He caught two passes for 28 yards. Matt Bradley completed five of 13 passes for 81 yards and a score.

SM's Trent Dillard carried 13 times for 59 yards. Josh Carnes finished with 32 yards in 13 attempts.

Justin Roper completed five of 11 passes for 57 yards and a TD. Justin Hawk came off the bench to complete three of five aerials for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Both TD passes went to Darius Bryson. He had three receptions for 72 yards.

Smoky Mountain continued . . .
