Harper leads Warhorses by Mustangs in season-opener

Trent Dillard led Smoky Mountain's ground game with 57 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 36-21 season-opening loss to Owen.

Jamal Harper accounted for 324 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns Friday leading Owen to a 36-21 season-opening victory over Smoky Mountain at Carr Hooper Stadium/Babe Howell Field.

The loss spoiled the debut of Cameron Brooks as head coach of the Mustangs.

Harper carried 24 times for 87 yards and a score and completed four of five passes for 110 yards and two TDs. He also had two kickoff return for 127 yards and a touchdown.

Andre Wilson had two runs of more than 50 yards and compiled 151 yards on 17 carries for the Warhorses. James Eller had four receptions for 86 yards.

Trent Dillard led the Mustang ground game with 57 yards in 22 carries and two scores.
