The Jackson County Swim Team placed second at the Mountain Swim League's annual Western Conference Meet held July 22 in Franklin.
Hendersonville was first with 689 points and 142 swimmers; Jackson, 370 points with 33 swimmers; Franklin, 291 points with 69 swimmers; Transylvania 283 with 56 swimmers; and Waynesville, 188 with 54 swimmers; and Graham, 40 points with 18 swimmers.
"It was a great meet with 29 swimmers qualifying for All-Stars. We earned 59 medals - the most Jackson has ever taken home and six of our swimmers have qualified and will be competing in the Junior Olympics this weekend," said Coach Pat Briggs. "I'm proud of our swimmers, they've worked hard this year, and they've done a good job. We are a small team but we are a quality team - we're all about quality," said Briggs.
