Derrick Hawk, a recent Smoky Mountain graduate, has been awarded a $1,500 Coach Joe T. Hunt Scholarship.

Hawk was an all-conference football player for the Mustangs the past two years and a varsity player for three seasons. He played defensive back throughout his career and was a wide receiver until being moved to quarterback early this season.

With Hawk under center, the SM offense exploded and averaged 34.6 points the final five games of the regular season. He completed 55 of 102 passes for 717 yards.
