The Jackson County Athletic Hall of Fame held its eighth annual banquet and induction ceremony Sunday before a sellout crowd at the Sylva Comfort Inn.
This year's induction class included Steve Dillard, Joe Hicks and the late Jeff Owen. The program began with a welcome from Brandon Stephens, WRGC radio sports announcer, and the invocation by the Rev. Mike Dellinger, pastor of Webster Baptist Church. Heath Shuler, a former quarterback with the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders, was the featured speaker.
