Smoky Mountain soccer star Eric Carpenter has decided to continue his career at Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Mustangs all-time leading scorer inked a letter-of-intent Friday. He choose the Bears over Guilford, Montreat, Milligan and Carson-Newman.

"It has a real good soccer program," Carpenter said of his decision to go to L-R. "It's a nice atmosphere there and a nice campus."

He said he began to think about playing in college during his junior season as he was having a good year.

"It's a real good opportunity," Carpenter said. "It feels good to get the final decision over with. I think the program here has prepared me to play in college."
