Trent Dillard doubled and scored Smoky Mountain's first run in the second inning then drove in the tying run in the fifth helping the Mustangs to a 7-2 victory over Tuscola last week.

Derrick Hawk struck out 14 Tuscola batters, and Smoky Mountain rallied for a 7-2 victory March 21 at the SM field.

Hawk pitched a four-hitter and raised his record to 4-1. He was two of four at the plate.

The Mustangs trailed 2-1 before scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Western Athletic Conference victory.

"I don't know why we're not hitting the ball better early in the game," Coach Tim Hawkins said. "Sometimes teams have to see a pitcher a few times through the order. I think that's what we had to do."
