Help from Pisgah clinches league championship for Lady Mustangs

Lindsey Lewis also posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards.

While the Lady Mustangs stepped out of the league, they got some help from Haywood County to clinch the Western Athletic Conference championship. Pisgah's victory over Tuscola allowed SM to wrap up its first WAC title since 1994.

The Lady Mustangs are 8-0 in the league while all other conference members have at least five losses.

"Obviously we're happy to be conference champions and have the number one seed in the sectionals," Coach Cindi Simmons said. "It's a great tribute to our team that we were able to wrap it up this early. Now we need to maintain our focus and continue to improve as we head toward the post season."
