Elexis Smith (34) scored 14 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for Smoky Mountain in last Thursdays 82-45 win over Blue Ridge. The Lady Mustangs were to play a key conference game at home Wednesday against Franklin.

Smoky Mountain took control with a huge second quarter and rolled to an 82-45 victory over Blue Ridge on Dec. 30 at the SM gym.

Tara Green scored 20 points for the Lady Mustangs, who improved to 10-0 in their final game of the millennium. She received scoring support from Kaitlin Ritchie with 15, Elexis Smith with 14 and Lindsey Lewis with 12.

Smith dominated the boards with 16 rebounds.

Jennifer Sherrill paced the Lady Bobcats (6-6) with 19 points.

"I felt we were a better team than when we played them the first time," SM Coach Cindi Simmons said. "We started out a little slow but picked up the intensity and the pace as the game went on."

"We got whipped by a very good ball club," Blue Ridge Coach Tom Dillard said. "I was really impressed by the way they've improved. I was impressed with their floor vision and with what everyone could do. They had a good summer, and I think you're seeing some of the results of it now."
