Western Carolina’s volleyball team ended the regular season with road Southern Conference losses to UNC-Greensboro and Citadel.

The Lady Cats (11-16, 7-9) finished in a four-way tie for fifth in the league. They received the fifth seed through a tie-breaking procedure and will meet fourth-seeded Wofford at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament at Samford.

The winner will play top-seeded Mercer, eighth-seeded UT-Chattanooga or ninth-seeded Furman in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Saturday. The championship match is set for 5 p.m. Sunday.

UNC-Greensboro downed Western 25-10, 25-20, 25-22 Nov. 10. Merry Gebel led the Lady Cats with eight kills. Sydney Carlson handed out 25 assists, and Destinee Dorsey came up with 22 digs.

Citadel topped WCU 25-18, 23-25, 25-12, 25-19 Friday. Gebel had a double-double with 11 digs and 10 kills. Bailey Hartsough was tops in kills with 13. Carlson and Sarah Janourova totaled 19 and 13 assists, respectively. Dorsey recorded 19 digs.
