Western Carolina’s football team will play Furman on homecoming Saturday at E.J. Whitmire Stadium/Bob Waters Field.
Kickoff time for the Southern Conference game is 3:30 p.m.
The Paladins (4-2, 3-1) are tied with Wofford for second place in the league.
The Catamounts (1-6, 0-4) are tied with East Tennessee for last place.
WCU quarterback Tyrie Adams left Saturday’s 59-7 loss at Wofford in the first quarter with a foot injury. He is listed as the starter against Furman on the two-deep chart released by WCU.
Furman defeated Mercer (45-10), East Tennessee (17-10) and Samford (58-14) in league play before losing to Citadel (27-10) last Saturday.
The teams have had two common opponents as Western lost to Mercer (49-27) and Citadel (35-17).
Quarterback Darren Garringer is averaging 145.4 passing yards for Coach Clay Hendrix’s team. Devin Wynn averages 102.9 rushing yards for the Paladins. Thomas Gordon is the team’s top receiver.
Furman is fourth in the conference in scoring at 33.6 points and second in scoring defense yielding 20.9 points.
WCU is last in scoring offense (18.3) and next to last in scoring defense (40.7).
The Paladins have a 32-12-2 advantage in the series and won 44-38 last year.
