Two Western Carolina athletic teams had their seasons paused and events postponed last week due to positive COVID-19 tests and quarantine requirements.
A baseball game March 17 at Kennesaw State and a three-game Southern Conference-opening series at Mercer on March 19-20 were postponed. That announcement was made March 16.
Two days later it was announced that Southern Conference women’s tennis matches at home Sunday against Samford and at Mercer on Tuesday were postponed along with a non-conference match Saturday against S.C. State.
The baseball team is to return to action with a home league series against Citadel on Friday and Saturday.
There is no word on whether the postponed games will be rescheduled.
The tennis team is set to resume play Sunday at home against UT-Chattanooga.
The Mercer match has been reset for April 18. It’s not known if the other matches will be made up.
