Western Carolina’s men finished second and the women were fifth in the Southern Conference Indoor Track Meet held Friday and Saturday at Virginia Military.
Led by Devaniel Dale, the Catamount men won five events. Dale won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team.
Dale took the 200-meter dash in 21.56 and the 400-meter dash in 47.66.
Di’Joun Huitt won the triple jump with a distance of 15.54 meters.
Benjamin Okafor had a leap of 7.38 to win the long jump.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Michael Harris, Chase Washington-Sanders, Jevon Leonard and Dale won in 3:16.43.
Samford won the men’s meet with 190 points to WCU’s 160. Furman was third at 102, followed by VMI (64), Wofford (56), Citadel (45), East Tennessee (34) and UNC-Greensboro (11).
Samford also claimed the women’s title with 177.5 points to ETSU’s 134. Furman was third at 109, followed by Wofford (97.5), WCU (78), VMI (45), UT-Chattanooga (10), Citadel (9) and UNC-G (3).
