Western Carolina split a pair of Southern Conference volleyball matches last week in the Ramsey Center.

The Lady Cats (10-11, 6-4) downed UT-Chattanooga and lost to East Tennessee and are third in the league.

WCU topped UT-C 27-25, 15-25, 25-15, 25-20 last Thursday. Merry Gebel, Julia Gardon and Bailey Hartsough all put down 12 kills. Sydney Carlson handed out 21 assists, and Sarah Janourova had 18. Destinee Dorsey led in digs with 23. Carlson and Janourova both finished with 16, and Gebel had 15.

East Tennessee won 25-19, 17-25, 25-22, 27-25 Friday. Gebel had 14 kills and digs. Hartsough added 10 kills. Carlson and Janourova dished out 27 and 20 assists, respectively. Dorsey came up with 24 digs, and Gardon had 11.
