Western Carolina Coach Mark Prosser has announced the signing of Josh Massey and Daniel Ransom during the early signing period for men’s basketball.
Massey, a 6-6 guard from Monroe, attends United Faith Christian Academy. As a junior, he averaged 12.3 points and 2.8 rebounds and was named to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A All-State team.
“Josh Massey is a young man that possesses a skill set that is close to being college-ready,” Prosser said. “His size and ability to score the basketball should allow him to carve out a niche for himself in our system very quickly.”
Ransom is a 6-6 forward from Charlotte, who attends Vance High School. As a junior, he averaged 9.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He played AAU basketball for Team Charlotte, which is coached by former North Carolina point guard Jeff McInnis.
“Daniel Ransom exemplifies everything that we want in our program, and we want to coach,” Prosser said. “He is a relentless competitor, communicator and defender and will immediately bring a toughness into our locker room. He does the things already that you shouldn’t have to coach, and they will translate immediately.”
