Western Carolina has announced the signing of four players for the upcoming men’s golf season.
The group includes Tyler Bussert (Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale High), Quinton Metz (Wilkesboro/Wilkes Central High), Magnus Pederson (Moss, Norway) and Pierre Viallaneix (Apopka, Fla./Winter Park High).
Bussert signed with Iowa in November 2017 but did not compete for the Hawkeyes. He won the Illinois state championship as a senior and was runner-up as a junior. He was a four-time all-state selection and a two-time conference champion. He also played basketball in high school.
Metz placed third in the State 2-A Tournament this spring. He was twice named conference player of the year.
Pederson has been active among the junior and amateur golf circuits in Norway, Sweden and Denmark since 2017. He is ranked first in Order of Merit for the Srixon Junior Elite Tour and placed third in the Norwegian Junior Championship.
Viallaneix finished sixth in the Florida High School State Tournament the past two years. He won the 2016 Orlando City Amateur Championship.
