Already on the preseason watch list for the top offensive player honor in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision – the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award – Western Carolina quarterback Tyrie Adams was chosen for a second national award watch list.

Western Carolina rising junior baseball player Justice Bigbie has been named Northwoods League Most Valuable Player and was one of 30 players selected as postseason all-stars in the wooden-bat league.

For a second consecutive summer, Western Carolina Coach Bobby Moranda was selected to take part in the National Team Development Program and the trials for the national team spearheaded by USA Baseball.

Furman let a 6-0 lead get away but recovered in the final two innings to defeat Western Carolina 9-7 last Thursday in the Southern Conference Baseball Tournament at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.
