Smoky Mountain’s men’s and women’s cross country teams ended their regular season Friday at Brevard.
Brevard won the men’s meet with 18 points to SM’s 54 and Hendersonville’s 63.
Caleb Phillips led the Mustang men by finishing sixth with a personal-best time of 18:43. Completing SM’s top five were:
Parker Smith, ninth, 19:11; Juan Guerrero, 10th, 19:12; Henry Hanks, 15th, 20:55; and Mitchell Russotti, 16th, 21:09.
Brevard won the women’s meet with 16 points to SM’s 45. Hendersonville did not have enough runners to qualify for team standings.
Lily Buenting paced the Lady Mustangs as she was fifth in 22:25. Rounding out SM’s top five were:
Maia Wilde, eighth, 23:16; Sophia Ammons, ninth, 23:20; Holly McCoy, 12th, 25:37; and Lydia Norman, 13th, 25:42.
“The teams posted good times considering the course and the conditions, with sub-40 degree temperatures,” Coach Nathan Frizzell said.
The Mountain Six Conference Meet is set for Jan. 6 at the Cullowhee Recreation Center.
