Smoky Mountain’s women golfers opened their season Aug. 23 at Maggie Valley.

The Lady Mustangs ended up with just two players so they do not have enough to qualify for team standings.

Payton Broom shot 51, and Chesney Coggins shot 55.

“It was a good first match,” Coach Megan Dezarn said. “It gave us a good bouncing off place for what we need to work on leading up to conference.”

A match last week at Highlands was rained out and rescheduled for today (Thursday).

With damage at Springdale from the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred, matches set for there may be moved to Laurel Ridge.
