Smoky Mountain’s wrestlers had their first dual match of the season and lost 48-46 at Franklin last Thursday.

The match did not count in Mountain Seven Conference standings and was added after a match at Rabun Gap, Georgia was canceled due to scheduling conflicts.

The Mustangs won five of the nine contested matches at Franklin. All of those victories were by pin.

Pinning their opponents were Davey McCoy (113), Dillon Parton (120), Colin Coggins (138), Sam Hudson (145) and Alex Rodriguez (160).

Gavin Coggins (106) won by forfeit.

“We had some wrestlers out of the lineup due to injuries and illness, so we gave up 18 points to start the dual,” Coach Erik Wilson said. “We will get back in the room and continue to improve and hopefully get everyone back and healthy.”
